Program Itinerary

day 1 / DEPARTURE

Depart Home for San Jose, Costa Rica 

Arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica (Early Flight Recommended)

Welcome Dinner  - The group will be taken for an authentic dinner with a wide variety of menu options to cater all diets.

day 2 / SAN JOSE/LA FORTUNA

Breakfast & Day Briefing 

Travel Morning to La Fortuna - Our journey starts at 8:00 am, along the way we will enjoy the beauty of the Central Mountain Range, with is volcanoes and the cloud forest. You will be able to see some crops that grow better at this elevation, such as coffee. Upon arrival, head to Downtown Fortuna for an orientation walk and grab lunch.

North Fields Coffee Farm - After lunch, we are going to visit a coffee farm. North Fields Coffee offers you an authentic tour in a plantation owned by a family, dedicated to the production of specialty coffee and in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. The coffee and chocolate tours are from our farm to your cup, we take care of each one of the processes we do; nursery, plantation, harvest, drying, roasting, grinding, preparation and tasting. In addition, our coffee and chocolate tours have a farm with animals and small plantations of sugarcane, cocoa and some other products that all together are part of a whole Costa Rican peasant culture.

Before Dinner, we will be joining a local Folklore dance group. With them will be able to appreciate more about some Costa Rican costumes.

The Wellness Park - Regular Entrance offers a range of outdoor activities that are perfect for nature enthusiasts. Guests can explore the stunning beauty of the park by taking a walk along the Motmot Trail, which spans 1 kilometer, or by venturing down the River Trail, which covers 550 meters. For those seeking a longer hike, the Majestic Trail offers a 3.8-kilometer trek through breathtaking scenery. The park’s Hanging Bridge provides a thrilling way to see the area’s natural wonders, and visitors can cool off at the Waterfall. In addition to the many trails and attractions, guests will have the opportunity to experience the peaceful atmosphere of the park and connect with nature on a deeper level. The labyrinth offers a unique and reflective experience that can help visitors unwind and find inner peace. And for those who simply want to take in stunning views, the park offers great vistas of the Arenal Volcano.

The Wellness Park Regular Entrance is an ideal destination for those who want to explore the natural beauty of the area while enjoying a peaceful and rejuvenating experience.

Lecture with a Local Company that Teaches about Environmental Education - The lecture will be focused on the impact of tourism on the economy and environment and efforts to make tourism sustainable.

day 4 / LA FORTUNA

Breakfast & Day Briefing

Rural Community Project - Today we are going to spend our day at a Rural Community project, they have been welcoming travelers for more than 20 years with the premise to share the Costa Rican culture and traditions. 

Upon arrival, we will explore the Juanilama Reserve, a 19 hectare protected area that allows you to enjoy the rainforest at is best.

This could be at the community, or we can go to Santa Rosa town, about 20 minutes from the community, for lunch.  

Learn how the Families have Implemented Ecotourism Combined with Farming - as a key to develop their project and to support the families that are involved. We will learn how they grow their crops from knowledge transmitted by their older relatives and or institutions that have been providing help since the beginning of the community.

day 5 / LA FORTUNA/CAHUITA

Breakfast & Day Briefing

Farewell La Fortuna to travel to Cahuita and get in touch with the Caribbean vibes. 

Pineapple Farm Tour - an organic farm that does great efforts to plant, harvest and commercialize organic products. On site, we will have the opportunity to observe how a pineapple grow, and also we will the change to taste some of them on the field.

After lunch, our journey continues to the Caribbean of Costa Rica. Upon arrival, we will get oriented with Cahuita, and we are going to have time to relax.

day 6 / CAHUITA

Breakfast & Day Briefing

Cahuita National Park - Today is going to be a very active day.  We will visit this National Park where we can see monkeys, sloths, raccoons and more. At that same time we will have some beach time off which we will collect data around the beach. 

Bribri Indigenous Community - Continue the day by visiting this indigenous community living inland. We will learn about their day-to-day, their culture and also about medicinal plants.

Waterfall Swimming - Our day will end at a waterfall of approximately 45 meters high where we can bathe in refreshing water from the Talamanca Mountain range. 

Night Leatherback Turtle Project - Here they will give us a brief explanation of the work they do for the conservation of this species, and we can patrol and try to see the largest species of sea turtle in the world!

day 7 / CAHUITA/SAN JOSE

Breakfast & Day Briefing

Morning at your leisure. There are a couple of other beaches we can travel to during the day.
