Program Itinerary

day 1 / DEPARTURE

Flight to San Jose, Costa Rica 

Airport Transfer to Fortuna (Approx 3 hours)

Check-In, Relax and Refresh

Orientation Walking Tour - The group will become oriented with their neighborhood, the public transportation systems, nearby pharmacies, markets, ATMs, etc. 

Welcome Dinner - The group will be taken for an authentic Costa Rican dinner with a wide variety of menu options to cater all diets.

day 2 / LA FORTUNA

Breakfast & Day Briefing 

Arenal Hanging Bridges- Walk in one of the most traveled trails of La Fortuna. With 3.2 km of trails and 6 hanging bridges, this wonderful piece of rainforest allows you to explore and enjoy all the different forest levels. From ground level to the treetops, we will have the chance to look for wildlife and learn about the local flora. 

Lunch Break

Arenal Volcano Walk - With 112 volcanoes  Costa Rica is truly a volcanic nation. Discover more on the youngest volcano in the country:  Arenal Volcano. The trail allows you to walk over the 1968 lava flow, where your guide will be able to explain more details about this eruption and tragic consequences.

day 3 / LA FORTUNA

Breakfast & Day Briefing 

Bat Netting/Conservatory - Meet Willy Pineda, a well known bat expert based in Costa Rica. He is going to teach us more about these fascinating creatures. Before we get hands-on with individuals, we will learn about the different species in the territory and their importance for the ecosystems.

Collect Info and Inventory with Bats -  Data gathering and analysis with the expert.

Eco Termas del Bosque - We will enjoy some local hot springs which temperature can go from (96.8 -99.5 °f) to average temperature: (100.4°F – 102.5 ° F)

day 5 / MONTEVERDE

Rio Celeste and Tenorio Volcano National Park  - Visit  the Tenorio Volcano National Park and a waterfall of unique  turquoise color, which is formed by the union of two rivers having different PH.

day 6 / MONTEVERDE

Breakfast & Day Briefing

Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve - The Santa Elena Cloud Forest has 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) of well-maintained trails with beautiful viewpoints and scenery. It is privately run by the Santa Elena Technical Professional High School and protects over 300 hectares (741 acres) of land. Santa Elena Reserve is considerably less crowded than Monteverde and offers equally as nice hiking trails and views.

Canopy Zipline Tour -Enjoy a unique perspective of the forest as you glide over the beautiful Costa Rican landscape. 

Nocturnal Wildlife Hike - This is a great way to discover a big variety of nocturnal animals that live in the coastal tropical rainforest.

day 7 / LIBERIA

Transfer to Liberia (Approximately 3 hours)

NP- Rincon de la Vieja - Geology and Dry Forest - Today we are visiting Sector Pailas, a 4 miles trail that allows us to enjoy some of the volcanic activities such as the fumaroles and the mud pools. We will also have the opportunity to enjoy this walk surrounded by dry forest vegetation.

day 8 / LIBERIA

Boat Trip Along Palo Verde/Mangrove - Palo Verde National Park is one of the most biodiverse areas in Costa Rica. It encompasses a rich mosaic of over 15 different natural communities, including the deciduous lowland forest, the evergreen forest, the flooded forest, the deciduous limestone hill forest, grasslands and mangroves. The wetlands, which represent some 50% of the park’s area, are a sanctuary for thousands of aquatic birds, both migratory and non-migratory. This led the park to be declared a Wetland of Importance under the Global Convention on Wetlands. Over 750 species of plants have been identified, including the palo verde, pochote, Spanish cedar and the Guanacaste tree. In addition, 5 of the 6 species of mangrove present in the country can be found in the park. In terms of fauna, over 280 species of migratory and non-migratory birds have been identified, some of which are endangered or whose populations have been shrinking.

Conversatory, Reef, Wildlife - Meet The wave Clean,  a non-profit organization focus on conservation and regeneration of the coral reef in different parts of the country.  After learning more on their activities, we will have time to snorkel in different places.

Snorkeling - Reef and Marine Wildlife -  Bahia Culebra is knowing for their marine wildlife, with the help of a professional we will explore areas with regenerate coral reef, and we will have the opportunity to admire different types of marine wildlife.
