Itinerary

Day 1 – Departure

  • Depart Home for Hanoi, Vietnam

Day 2 – Hanoi

  • Arrive in Hanoi, Vietnam
  • Airport Transfer – Check-in, Relax & Refresh
  • Orientation Walking Tour – The group will become oriented with their neighborhood, the public transportation systems, nearby pharmacies, markets, ATMs, etc. Additionally, an in-depth safety briefing will be provided for what to do in case of an emergency.
  • Water Puppet Show – Discover Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre in Hanoi, Vietnam: Home of the unusual art of water puppetry, one of Vietnam’s oldest curiosities.
  • Welcome Dinner – The group will be taken for an authentic dinner with a variety of menu options to cater all diets.

Day 3 – Hanoi/Halong

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Hanoi Historical & Cultural Walking Tour – Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, one-pillar pagoda, military museum and more…
  • Lunch Break
  • B52 Museum – The museum especially illustrates the victory of Hanoi people and armed forces over the US strategic B-52 air raid in late December 1972. Vietnam’s soldiers, pilots and militiamen shot down 81 of the raiding aircraft, including 34 of the giant B52s.
  • Transfer to Halong Bay (approx. 3 hours)

Day 4 – Halong/Dong Ha

  • Breakfast – Day Briefing
  • Halong Bay Cruise – Halong Bay was the setting for successful Vietnamese naval battles against 3 coastal invasions of Mongol enemies in the Feudal period. During the Vietnam War, many of the channels between the islands were heavily mined by the United States navy, some of which pose a threat to shipping to this day.
  • Return to Hanoi (approx. 3 hours)
  • Sleeper Train to Dong Ha

Day 5 – Dong Ha/Hue

  • Arrival in Dong Ha
  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • DMZ, Airfield and Battlefield Tour in Quang Tri –
    Vietnam’s Demilitarized Zone, or DMZ, is the area around the former border between North and South Vietnam. Historically it was a narrow band of terrain extending from the Laos border to the coast, five kilometers on either side of the Ben Hai River, roughly on the 17th parallel north of latitude. The area saw heavy fighting in the war.
  • Transfer to Hue (approx. 1.5 hours)
  • Overnight in Hue

Day 6 – Hue/Hoi An

  • Transfer to Hoi An (approx. 3 hours)

Day 7 – Hoi An/Ho Chi Minh City

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Hoi An City Tour – In the city, you can see Hoi An Old Town, Japanese bridges, Chinese temples, pagodas, wooden shop-houses, and old canals. With so many different well-maintained ancient buildings and temples.
  • Airport Transfer – Flight to HCMC
  • Arrival in Ho Chi Minh City
  • Check-in & Refresh
  • Orientation Walking Tour

Day 8 – Ho Chi Minh City

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Ho Chi Minh Historical & Cultural Walking Tour – Presidential Palace, War remnant museum and more…
  • Lunch Break
  • Cu Chi Tunnels – In order to combat better-supplied American and South Vietnamese forces during the Vietnam War, Communist guerrilla troops known as Viet Cong (VC) dug tens of thousands of miles of tunnels, including an extensive network running underneath the Cu Chi district northwest of Saigon.

Day 9 – Mekong

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Mekong River Delta Excursion – The delta region west of Saigon includes the canals and rivers of Bassac and Mekong.This is the most fertile region of the country which also made it strategically important for both sides. Scattered across the region was also many smaller firebases, Special Forces bases and other installations. River operations meant a lot of patrolling to search out enemy transports and hidden caches of food and weapons, but also deploying Navy Seals and other forces going out on missions.
  • Boat Tour – Explore the Mekong Delta region on this full-day excursion from Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Floating Market & Local Village
  • Return to HCMC
  • Farewell Dinner & Program Closing

Day 10 – Return
