Day 1 – Departure

Day 2 – Madrid

  • Orientation Walking Tour –The group will become oriented with their neighborhood, the public transportation systems, nearby pharmacies, markets, ATMs, etc.
  • Welcome Dinner – The group will be taken for an authentic Spanish

Day 3 – Madrid

  • Tour of the Old Town – Puerta del Sol Square, Plaza Mayor, The Bakery House, Posada del Peine, The Oldest Restaurant in the World, Almudena Cathedral, Attack against King Alfonso XIII, Plaza de la Villa Square, Remains of Santa Maria Church, Plaza de Oriente, Royal Theatre

  • Royal Palace – Home to the Kings of Spain from Charles III to Alfonso XIII, Madrid’s Royal Palace takes us on a
    journey through the history of Spain.

Day 4 – Madrid

  • Prado Museum – The Prado Museum (Museo del Prado) houses one of the finest art collections in the world, specializing in European art from the 12th to 19th centuries. Thousands of European paintings, sculptures, and other works of art are on display throughout its halls, and they represent merely a fraction of the total collection. Highlights include works by Francisco Goya, Diego Velázquez, and El Greco.

  • Retiro Park & Palacio de Cristal – The Glass Palace in the Retiro Park is one of the finest examples of iron architecture in Madrid. The metal and glass structure was built in 1887 for the Philippines Exhibition of that year. Designed by Ricardo Velázquez Bosco, the project was inspired by Paxton’s Crystal Palace.   • Toledo Historical & Cultural Walking Tour – A stroll through history. Toledo is one of the oldest and most unique cities in Spain. The former Spanish capital before Madrid, this city has made an important contribution to Spain’s history and heritage.

  • El Greco Museum – This charming residence, characteristic of Toledo homes in the 16C where El Greco stayed, is a museum devoted to the artist.
  • Return to Madrid

Day 6 – Madrid

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía – The Reina Sofia Museum is Madrid’s premier modern art gallery
    featuring mostly works by Spanish artists. Among them is Guernica, a political statement on the Spanish Civil War by Pablo Picasso, as well as a room devoted to Joan Miró’s paintings and a collection of about 20 Salvador Dalí pieces.

  • Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum –The museum offers students an overview of art from the 13th century to the late
    20th century.

Day 7 – Segovia

  • Segovia Cultural & Historical Walking Tour – Segovia still retains the spirit of old Spanish cities. It was the home of kings and queens, and thanks to its storybook towers is often listed among the most beautiful castles in Spain.

  • Alcázar de Segovia – Originally a fortress, the Alcázar has also been a royal palace, the site of Philip II’s wedding to his fourth wife, Anne of Austria, and more recently a military
    academy. In the upper part of the city, the oldest foundations have been identified as Roman. Documents indicate that a fortress existed on this site by the early 12th century known as the Alcázar, an Arabic word for a royal residence.
