Itinerary

Day 1 – Departure – Wednesday, June 2

Depart Home for Madrid, Spain

Day 2 – Madrid – Thursday, June 3

  • Meet Local Guide at Hotel
  • Orientation Walking Tour – The group will become oriented with their neighborhood, the public transportation systems, nearby pharmacies, markets, ATMs, etc.
  • Welcome Dinner – The group will be taken for an authentic Spanish dinner with a variety of menu options to cater all diets.

Day 3 – Madrid – Friday, June 4

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Madrid Walking Tour – San Miguel Market, Puerta del Sol Square, Plaza Mayor, The Bakery House, Posada del Peine, The Oldest Restaurant in the World,  Almudena Cathedral and more…
  • Prado Museum – The Prado Museum (Museo del Prado) houses one of the finest art collections in the world, specializing in European art from the 12th to 19th centuries. Thousands of European paintings, sculptures, and other works of art are on display throughout its halls, and they represent merely a fraction of the total collection. 
  • Lunch Break
  • Retiro Park & Palacio de Cristal – The Glass Palace in the Retiro Park is one of the finest examples of iron architecture in Madrid. The metal and glass structure was built in 1887 for the Philippines Exhibition of that year. Designed by Ricardo Velázquez Bosco, the project was inspired by Paxton’s Crystal Palace.

Day 4 – Cordoba – Saturday, June 5

  • Transfer to Cordoba (approx. 2 hours)
  • Check in – Drop Bags
  • Mezquita of Cordoba – Known locally as Mezquita-Catedral, the Great Mosque of Cordoba is one of the oldest structures still standing from the time Muslims ruled Al-Andalus (Muslim Iberia including most of Spain, Portugal, and a small section of Southern France) in the late 8th century.

Day 5 – Granada – Sunday, June 6

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Transfer to Granada (approx. 1.5 hours)
  • Tour of Alhambra – The Alhambra is home to many myths, legends and secrets. Discover this UNESCO World Heritage Site, an example of Muslim art in its final European stages.

Day 6 – Granada – Monday, June 7

  • Jewish Quarter & El Albaicin Tour – The Albaicin is the Moorish area of the city and the oldest part of Granada.

Day 7 – Tarifa – Tuesday, June 8

Day 8 – Tangier – Wednesday, June 9

    Ferry to Tangier (approx. 1 hour)

  • Kasbah & Bazaar Tour – Visit to the Grand Souk, heart of Tangier & the point where the old & modern city meet; See the Kasbah which was the ancient Governor’s Palace.

Day 9 – Tangier – Thursday, June 10

  • American Legation Museum – The only US Historic Monument outside the United States, TALIM includes a public museum, research library accessible by appointment only, and a community Arabic Literacy Program.

  • Grand Mosque of Tangier – The towering white-and-green-tiled minaret of the largest mosque in the city make it one of the most recognizable attractions in Tangier.

Day 10 – Marrakech – Friday, June 11
