DAY 1 – DEPARTURE – Saturday, June 15

DAY 2 – SAN JOSE/POAS – Sunday, June 16

Breakfast & Day Briefing

Drive to Poas Volcano (approx 1 hour) – This is one of the most active volcanoes of the Central Mountain Range. During the drive, vast lands used for agriculture and several coffee farms are going to be part of the scenery. 

Poas Volcano National Park – Here we reach the cloud forest! Depending on the weather, we may spot the hyperacid lake “Laguna Caliente”, which is one of the 30 hot and acid lakes in the world. While in the park, the group will see many volcanic deposits dating back to the eruptions of 1834, 1910, 1953-55 and 2017. In the path there will be a waterfall formed by lava flows, and the group will walk along the many trails while spotting cloud forest wildlife.


DAY 3 – POAS/PACUARE RIVER – Monday, June 17

Early Morning Drive to Turrialba to Rafting

Starting Point (approx. 3.5 hrs) – Turrialba is the starting

point of the best possible rafting experience in Costa Rica.

You will be rafting on Pacuare river, which has been included amongst the top 10 rivers with the best sceneries

In the world. This is a unique experience for the group. The river offers quite easy rapids for beginners of class 2 and 3. These activities are led by a professional guide. Students will only need to follow the guide’s instructions and paddle.

The group will spend the night in a Lodge with a view of

the river surrounded by nature and animals. Next day at

breakfast the group may spot monkeys and toucans, while

at night, it’s the turn of the famous red-eyes trees frogs who may be spotted in the dark. However, so much more can be seen, so keep your eyes peeled! Lots of amazing of rock formation along the way day along with waterfalls and more!


DAY 4 – PACUARE RIVER/CAHUITA – Tuesday, June 18

Breakfast & Day Briefing

Second Rafting Day on Pacuare River – The group

will be going down river for about 4 hrs. Enjoy the view

along the river, and travel from the highlands to ocean

level. This is a great opportunity to witness the different ecosystems and geological formation in Costa Rica. The group will have lunch on the river.

Drive to Cahuita from the Rafting Point End

(approx. 2 hrs)


DAY 5 – CAHUITA – Wednesday, June 19

Breakfast & Day Briefing

Cahuita National Park Wildlife Tour – Local Flora and Fauna. The park was originally designated as Cahuita National Monument in 1970, and re-designated as a national park in 1978.

Bribri Community Educational Day – While visiting this local community, the group will see the Bribri Waterfall and will also experience a traditional meal, will learn about medicinal plants, chocolate making, sustaining traditions, and will participate in discussions about Shamanism


DAY 6 – CAHUITA – Thursday, June 20

Breakfast & Day Briefing

Drive to Manzanillo de Gandoca (approx 30 mins)This is one of the most southern areas of Costa Rica in the Caribbean lands. You will enjoy amazing views of the rainforest meeting the ocean.

DAY 7 – CAHUITA/ARENAL – Friday, June 21

Breakfast & Day Briefing

Drive to Arenal Volcano (approx. 5h30 mins) –

We will drive along with the Talamanca mountain range and we will see from far the Central Mountain range. We will end the ride with the view of the Tilaran volcanic range from la Fortuna town. Along the way we will stop in the fruit stand to try the most amazing fruit on season.

DAY 8 – ARENAL – Saturday, June 22

Breakfast & Day Briefing

Morning – Service Learning Activity at Asis Rescue Center

Afternoon – Mistico Hanging Bridges – Experience the Tropical Rainforest from a different perspective! You are going to see the forest from ground level up to tree level! Try to spot as much wildlife as possible while your guide explains all about the interactions that occur between the flora and fauna along the trail. 


DAY 9 – ARENAL/RIO CELESTE – Sunday, June 23

Breakfast & Day Briefing

Drive to Rio Celeste (approx. 1h30 mins)We will drive to the hotel and refresh ourselves in the beautiful turquoise waters coming from the Tenorio Volcano.

Explore the Nature reserve Tapir Valley – This was the place where the Tree Frog (Tlalocohyla Celeste), a new species of frog in Costa Rica, was found. It is also one of the places where the Tapir, the biggest land mammal in

Costa Rica, is almost certainly guaranteed to be seen.

Breakfast & Day Briefing

Tenorio National Park – We will adventure in the Tenorio Volcano, another active volcano. We will walk around 3 hrs to see the majestic turquoise waterfall, and we will walk further up to see the magic of two rivers blending into each other. This is what creates an optical illusion resulting the turquoise water.

Drive to Liberia (approx. 1h30 mins)

DAY 11 – LIBERIA – Tuesday, June 25

Breakfast & Day Briefing

Drive to Rincón De la vieja National Park (approx. 1h30 mins) This would be our first experience in the Tropical Dry forest. We are going to walk for about 3 hours and talking about the most active volcano Costa Rica, which boasts an amazing flora and fauna. We will see one of the volcano’s 7 crates and its boiling mud pools. Here you will be able to witness the burning effects of the volcano’s abundant gases on the vegetation.


DAY 12 – LIBERIA – Wednesday, June 26

Santa Rosa National Park – This is one of the last remaining dry forests of all Central America. Most of this ecosystem was devastated because of the cattle field and due to the spreading of an African type of grass.
