Its history starts from the Neolithic period, as the island has been inhabited since 3,000 BC. During the walking tour we will also taste some local delicacies based on the island’s flagship product: the pistachio. The pistachios cultivated on the island are of protected designation of origin. They are high in potassium and vitamin B6 and are righteously considered as a super, concentrated food.

Very important archaeological site but also a place of unique energy. People have visited Aphaia since at least the 14th Century BCE. Female figurines have been found, showing that locals

worshiped a goddess of fertility, childbirth and agriculture. It is also part of Greece’s ‘sacred triangles’: along with the Parthenon in Athens, it makes neat isosceles triangles with the temple of Poseidon to the south-east and Delphi Apollo to the north-west.
