DAY 1 – DEPARTURE – Sunday 2 June

Depart Home for Paris, France

 

DAY 2 – PARIS – Monday 3 June

Arrive in Paris, France

Airport Transfer

Hotel Check-in, Relax & Refresh
Orientation Walking Tour – The group will become oriented with their neighborhood, the public transportation systems, nearby pharmacies, markets, ATMs, etc. Additionally, an in-depth safety briefing will be provided for what to do incase of an emergency. 

Welcome Dinner – The group will be taken for an authentic dinner with a wide variety of menu options to cater all diets. 

 

DAY 3 PARIS – Tuesday 4 June

Walking Tour of Paris (part 1)

  • Opéra – The primary opera and ballet company of France.
  • Louvre – This is the world’s most-visited museum, and a historic landmark in Paris.
  • Notre-Dame – (see from outside as site is still closed)

Lunch Break

Walking tour of Paris (part 2)

    • Place de la Concorde – Originally known for having been an execution site during the French Revolution
    • Champs Elysées & Arc de Triomphe The worldìs most famous avenue and the symbol of French national identity.
  • Eiffel Tower – An object of discord, desire and fascination, the Eiffel Tower never fails to impress since 1889.

 

DAY 4 – LILLE  -Wednesday 5 June

UNESCO Guided Tour- The mission and actions of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization will be the basis of your visit. It will allow you to discover how the organization works, the values it conveys and how it affects people’s daily lives

Transfer to Lille (approx 2.5 hrs)

DAY 5 – LILLE  – Thursday 6 June

Walking tour of Lille – With its grand cobblestoned squares lined with exuberant Baroque buildings, Lille is one of France’s best-kept secrets.

Lunch Break

Wazemmes – A bohemian neighborhood of Lille, now filled with artists and musicians. The Wazemmes market square is the central place of the neighborhood, market days are Tuesdays, Thursdays and on Sundays

 

DAY 6 – LILLE  – Friday 7 June

Service Learning activities with a local community – engage in some volunteering projects in Parc de la Citadelle.

DAY 7 –  LILLE  – Saturday  8 June

Breakfast & Day Briefing 

Lille Opera – A prominent building located in the very centre of the old town. The facade reflects the architectural canons of the belle époque in vogue since the Universal Exhibition of 1900.

Palais des Beaux Arts – Visit this wonderful building devoted completely to fine arts, modern arts and antiquities…one of the largest in France.

Day Trip to Arras – First day trip of this program is historic Arras, where you can marvel at its landmarks: the UNESCO-listed Beffroi d’Arras and Flemish-style townhouses on Place des Héros, plus the WWI battlegrounds, memorials, and war tunnels used during the Battle of Arras

Day Trip to Lewarde

Mining History Centre – The Mining History Centre, created in 1982 at the impetus of the nationalised mining company, opened to the public in 1984. Its aim is to conserve and promote the Nord-Pas de Calais mining culture, so that future generations can learn about three centuries of mining in the area.

Day Trip to Dunkirk – The closest beach for locals in Lille, packed with restaurants and ice cream shops to enjoy a sea-view break. It makes for a fantastic beach day but is also an ideal getaway for war history enthusiasts: the city had a central role during WW2, where the Allied forces coordinated “Operation Dynamo.”

Day Trip to World War 1 Sites – From 1914 to 1918, World War I raged across the Western Front in France and Belgium. Although today the land lies still, the battle scars are evident. Lille is perfectly situated for easily visiting the surrounding historic sites.

Payments Schedule

150 days prior to departure $500 per person is due and payable by January 4, 2024.

90 days prior to departure, the second payment in the amount of 50% of the remaining amount is due and payable by March 4, 2024.

60 days prior to departure, the third and final payment in the remaining amount is due and payable by April 3, 2024.
