Itinerary

Day 1 – Departure

  • Depart Home for Havana, Cuba
  • Arrive in Havana, Cuba
  • Transfer to Private House in Havana (minibus)
  • Check-in, Relax & Refresh

Day 2 – Soroa

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Transfer to Las Terrazas/ Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve (UNESCO) – The Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve is located at the eastern part of the mountain range of Guaniguanico, between Pinar del Rio and Havana’s provinces of Cuba, where both north and south coasts can be seen. It covers an area of 26,686 hectares. This reserve shows a complex geological structure, with a great diversity of rocks that produce different and special soils, which in part, determine flora endemism in its landscape.
  • Hiking El Taburete trail (approx. 3 hours)
  • Natural Pools on the San Juan River
  • Continue to Soroa – Overnight in Soroa

Day 3 – Soroa

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing 
  • Jardín Botanico Orquideario Soroa (JBOS)
  • Tour of JBOS with Ernesto – With more than 25 000 orchid species from different parts of the world, including around 100 Cuban species. The garden also has 6 000 species of other ornamental plants, trees, and flowers that represent the national flora of several countries.
  • Hike to Soroa Waterfall
  • Overnight in Soroa

Day 4 – Viñales/Guanahacabibes

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
    Transfer to Viñales (approx. 2 hours)
  • Tobacco Tour at Viñales National Park
  • Cueva del Indio – The Cueva del Indio (Indio Cave) is an ancient indigenous dwelling located 5.5 km north of Viñales and near the town of San Vicente, in an important Cuban cave system. The cave was found in 1920 by a peasant named Juan Díaz.
  • Group Lunch included 
  • Museo Ciencias Naturales Tranquilino Sandalio de Noda
  • Travel to Guanahacabibes (approx. 3 hours)

Day 5 – Guanahacabibes

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Guanahacabibes National Park – The peninsula and national park lie within the Guanahacabibes Peninsula Biosphere Reserve, which was created by UNESCO in 1987. The 31,066-acre (12,572-ha) reserve protects the mangroves, wildlife, and woodland of this peninsula.
  • Tour of the Bat Cave with Jose
  • Orchid Hike with Ernesto

Day 6 – Guanahacabibes – Thursday, May 19

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Optional Snorkeling time at Maria la Gorda Beach – María la Gorda, a secluded white-sand beach that borders some of the best diving in Cuba.

Day 7 – Havana

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
    Transfer to Havana (approx. 5 hours)
  • Group Lunch included at Balcon del Valle on Viñales
  • Check-in at Private House
    Overnight in Havana

Day 8 – Havana

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
    Walking Tour of Old Havana – Capitol building and visit the National Museum of Natural History of Cuba, Museum of the Revolution.
  • Plaza of the Revolution – Jose Marti Memorial Building
  • Farewell Dinner & Program Closing in Old Havana at Casa Miglis
  • Visit Castillo De Los Tres Reyes Del Morro – See the ‘Firing of the 9:00 Cannon’
  • Overnight in Havana

Day 9 – Return

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Airport Transfer 
  • Depart Havana, Cuba for Home
