Itinerary

Day 1 – Departure

  • Depart Home for Havana, Cuba
  • Arrive in Havana, Cuba
  • Airport Transfer
  • Orientation Walking Tour
  • Cuban Welcome Dinner & Live Jazz Music – The group will be taken for an authentic dinner with a variety of menu options to cater all diets.

Day 2 – Havana

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Walking Tour of Havana – Discover the Cuban lifestyle. Learn about the history of Cuba as  you will hit the streets to discuss about the education and health systems, the relationship between wages and cost of living, the dual currency system and more…
  • Lunch Break
  • Museum of the RevolutionThe Museum of the Revolution exhibits in its rooms multiple collections of photographs, flags, documents, weapons and other objects of the history of the country, ranging from pre-Columbian culture to the present day.
  • Dancing Performance – To be determined

Day 3 – Havana

  • Walking Tour of Old Havana – An art historian will take the group on a tour of the most important sites in Old Havana, focusing on its architecture and the different styles that can be found in Havana.
  • Lunch Break
  • Beyond Roots ProjectThis is an experience to travel to Guanabacoa and interact with the local population. Beyond
  • Roots is a platform for promoting Afro Cuban culture.
    Tasting Afro Cuban Cuisine – Learn about the influence of Afro-Cuban traditions in Cuban cuisine during this hands-on cooking class.

Day 4 – Havana

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Art Safari Tour – Get introduced to Cuban fine arts. Visit the National Museum of Fine Arts, Cuban collection and several private studios. Group will get the chance to meet independent artists at their own workshops.
  • Structured Free Time & Cultural Immersion

Day 5 – Havana

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Excursion to the Cuban Countryside – Meet a local family at a non-touristy town west from Havana. Find out  what life is like in the cuban countryside, visit the local farm. After that, head out into the wild and visit the nearby forest, see the cave and a take a swim in the river. 
  • Lunch with Local Family – Included
  • Return to Havana

Day 6 – Havana

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Hamel Alley – Callejon de Hamel is a narrow alley in Havana filled with lively colorful murals and sculptures made from bathtubs, hand pumps, and pinwheels. It offers visitors to Cuba’s capital a taste of the city’s local art. Cuban artist Salvador Gonzáles Escalona describes his Afro-Cuban style as a mix of surrealism, cubism, and abstract art.

  • Live Show with Traditional Cuban Music & Dancing

Day 7 – Havana

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Salsa Dancing Class – Cuban salsa is a type of salsa that was developed in recreation center of Havana in the 1950s. A group of young people decided to create their own type of salsa, with specific moves danced in partners in a large circle, or a rueda. 
  • Lunch Break
  • Finca Vigia (Former Home of Ernest Hemingway)
  • Museum of Decorative Arts – The Museum of is a work of art in its own right. The site is the original residence of María Luisa Gómez Mena, a wealthy patron of Cuban artists.

Day 8 – Casablanca/Havana

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Excursion to Casablanca – Take the ferry to Casablanca. Enjoy great views from El Cristo hill. Visit La Cabaña and El Morro fortresses.
  • Morro Castle – The Morro was constructed to guard the entrance to Havana against pirates and other colonists eager to gain control of this strategic transit hub between Europe and the rest of the Americas.
  • Structured Free Time – Souvenir Shopping
  • Farewell Dinner & Program Closing

Day 9 – Return
