Itinerary

DAY 1 – DEPARTURE – Friday, August 4

Depart Home for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Airport Transfer

Check-in, Relax & Refresh
Orientation Walking Tour – The group will become oriented with their neighborhood, the public transportation systems, nearby pharmacies, markets, ATMs, etc. Additionally, an in-depth safety briefing will be provided for what to do incase of an emergency. 

Welcome Dinner at Hotel Europa

 

DAY 2 – SANTO DOMINGO – Saturday, August 5

Breakfast & Day Briefing 

Lobby meeting

Introduction to the Dominican Community Health, the Community History and the daily activities

Walking Tour of Santo Domingo Colonial area and Downtown Market 

Visit UADS Public University, built in the 16th century.

Lunch by the Beach in Boca Chica

Informal meeting with local Tour Operators in the Boca Chica area to discuss the African diaspora in the Tourism industry

Overnight at Hotel Europa

Meeting with Fundacion Guanin representatives in the Zona Colonial

DAY 3 – SANTO DOMINGO – Sunday, August 6

Breakfast & Day Briefing 

Lecture: Dr. Jose Luis Vasquez, DR-CAFTA, Sugar Mill Industry and Black Labor 

Courtesy Visit to Free Zone Factory:  Human resources and treatment of the staff

San Antonio Guerra Visit – Second level Hospital 

Guanin medical clinic – First level Clinic , at the community of la Piedra

DAY 4 – SANTO DOMINGO/SAMANA – Monday, August 7

Breakfast & Day Briefing 

Transfer to Las Terrena, Samana (approx 2.5 hrs)

Lunch in Samana

Discussions with Samana University Faculty or Tourist Guide on the Samanense History, Business and Health

Overnight at Colibri Hotel
