Belize: Environmental Science
Length
11 days
Price
TBD
Destinations
Belize City, Belmopan, Hopkins, & Caye Caulker
This 11 day program is a fresh take on environmental science with intimate looks into Belize’s tropical ecosystem. It takes science out of the classroom to study flora and fauna in the field.
Students will have the opportunity all throughout the program to interact up close with the exotic wildlife in Belize. They will go on a wildlife tour on the Savana Trail, receive lectures at Belize Zoo, and have a nighttime beach tour to see the stunning bioluminescence.
During their stay at the Belmopan Bird Rescue Center, students will participate in service projects to assist staff in clinic tasks, husbandry duties, weight checks, and more. There will be a mangrove marine biology sea kayaking tour, and at Hol Chan Marine Reserve, students will spend all morning snorkeling amongst the vibrant coral reef and abundant marine life.
The tour is full of recreational activities, such as a canoe excursion, river and cave tubing, hiking and ziplining, a sunset sailboat cruise, and more.
Special activities include a tour of Xunatunich Mayan Ruins, and a Trash Heroes beach garbage cleanup service project.
